Important Publishing News

This has been a very difficult post to write and I have to admit that I’ve been putting it off. Not just the writing of the post, but the thing itself (which I’ll get to in a short minute) took me a long time to actually do.

*takes a deep breath*

I’ve pulled the rights to all my titles from Dreamspinner Press.

I didn’t want to, at first, for a few reasons, not the least of which is that managing my entire catalog on my own is a (not-so) teeny bit terrifying. However, the truth of it is, it’s necessary, whether I wanted to or not.

I have no doubt most of the readers of this blog are at least tangentially aware of the difficulties with Dreamspinner Press. I’m not going to sugar-coat it. It’s a mess. I believe I used the phrase “dumpster fire” a while back and that remains true. People aren’t getting paid. I have, but only barely and it took a lot to get what I did. I got lucky. Others not so much.

The last regular, on-time payment I received was October of 2017. No, that’s not a typo. Twenty-seventeen. Other signs have been there, but I, like many other (now former) Dreamspinner authors ignored them. We excused them. Or we justified them. Or we just didn’t know better.

I could no longer ignore the things happening and at the end of August, I sent the request for my rights.

What does this mean for my books?

For a brief time, all of my former Dreamspinner titles will be showing as “out of print” or simply not showing up in searches at all. Three Hearts, Overcoming Fear, Hope, and Being True will all still be available. The Resist & Triumph anthology will also remain available on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited, without interruption.

My former Dreamspinner titles will be rereleased, but it will take time. They all will need new covers and for a few—especially the Golden Collar books—I have some rewriting to do. My current intention is to start with the Forbes Mates series. It absolutely needs new covers (I do not have the rights to them). Once we can get all that together, they’ll be available again.

Please note, my existing audiobooks and foreign translations are not going anywhere. All those currently on Audible/iTunes will stay there. My German titles through Cursed Verlag will also continue to be available.

I promise to work as hard as I can to get things back out there and available again. I beg your patience as Mr. Grace and I work to get things back to a sort-of-normal. We’ll keep you posted here, via the newsletter, and on Facebook. Thank you for reading and sticking with me

Best wishes for getting things sorted as quickly & as painlessly as possible. I stopped buying from their site some time ago. As their ebooks are massively overpriced. I wish more people would have their books on Smashwords, it seems like they must take a smaller cut than anywhere else, because books there are usually cheaper than anywhere else.
