Fall is here! I think…

“Don’t you love New York in the fall? It makes me wanna buy school supplies.” – Joe Fox, You’ve Got Mail (1998)

I have always loved fall, though I have usually been much further north for the season and, thus, it has historically been much cooler for me by the time October rolls around. The cooler weather always makes me excited for Thanksgiving, football, pumpkin pie and even school. And this year, teaching makes that last part even more exciting. I do usually want to run out and buy school supplies, sometimes even the supplies I don’t need.

I am not in the North this year. No, I am in the Dallas, Texas area and the coolest temperatures I’ve seen so far is the mid-60’s! Daytime still reaches 90 and up and it’s just crazy to me. I see signs for pumpkin patches and hay rides and think, “I am so not feeling it!” Though, if I’m going to be living here for a while, I’m just going to have to get used to it, aren’t I?

Of course, it also brings back memories of other falls and drags my writer’s brain out, sparking tons of ideas. I am desperately trying to get more of Deception down before I leave for Yaoi-con next week as I know I will be mostly useless for the week after I get back and there will be no writing accomplished while I’m gone. Though the writing is balanced right now with the start of the new quarter at school and the finishing touches I am doing on my cosplay and props for Yaoi-con, I am still plugging along. Chapter six is started and I am hopeful to get through at least a couple more before I leave.

I am still looking forward to many of the fall activities and I have a feeling it will spawn at least a few fanfiction chapters and maybe a free read of original stories, too. We shall see.

Tell me, what are your favorite parts of fall? Or do you hate the season with a passion? Do they bring up any good memories for you? Leave a comment and let me know. 😀

Don’t forget A.F. Henley’s upcoming release – Inflori – which is out on October 17th. Look for his guest blog post soon!

Thanks for reading!

    Hubby here…

I’m with you, I’m just not feeling “fall” here. It’s not cold enough, the trees aren’t shedding enough and it just overall doesn’t seem like that time of the year.

As far as memories for fall, I was reminded of an anniversary coming up at the end of this month (is it October already….?!) for us. We’ll have to make sure to go to Wendy’s that day, won’t we? 😉

*huggle* Maybe we’ll get some nice seasonal weather and have some raking to do sometime soon, eh?

We will definitely have to head to Wendy’s that day. 🙂 *hugs* Maybe it’ll even be a nice fall day for our trip to Wendy’s. We can hope!

Autumn… *sighs* It’s Mom Nature’s way of apologizing in advance for what she’s about to do to us. XD

Thanks for the honourable mention, gorgeous! <3

I love fall, too! It’s a shame you’re not getting much of one there. It doesn’t feel like it yet here – it’s sort of cool sometimes but more wet than usual and not crisp.

Cheering you on for writing more Deception and having a blast at Yaoi-con!

Thank you!! Yes, it’s a little frustrating that we’re not getting the weather. I love that crisp fall feel and smell to the air. We’ll see it, it’ll just be late and short-lived.

Thanks! I am so excited about both, actually! I really want to get more written on Deception but with Yaoi-con coming up, it’ll be a little harder to get time to write. I’m still trying, though! *hugs*
